Spencer Churchill’s Halloween Shrek-tacular!

Halloween holds a special place in our hearts at Spencer Churchill. It’s the one day we can swap our usual office attire for something a bit more… green. This year, the team went all-in on a shared theme for the first time: Shrek. There was immediate buzz in the office. For weeks, the group chat was flooded with everyone laying claim to characters and throwing around costume ideas. It was all very… ogre-whelming. Sorry.

The great character claiming begins

The real fun started weeks before Halloween as the team slowly transformed into the cast of Shrek. Smash Mouth entered regular rotation on the office speakers as we battled for the best characters. Once we all gave the green light for Geoff to come as Shrek himself, we knew we’d be in for an unforgettable Halloween.

Whispers of the costumes spread around the office – did you hear someone was going to attempt the dragon? Has anyone claimed the three blind mice, yet? And do you know the muffin man? Who lives on Drury Lane?

Daily conversation was peppered with jokes about swamp life, and even a few requests for teammates to work on their character impressions. By the time Halloween morning rolled around, there was something in the air that went a little further than the usual Spencer Churchill magic.

The big day

Finally, the morning of Halloween arrived. One by one, everyone showed up in costume, and it was impossible not to smile. Every entrance was a big reveal, and it quickly became clear that our preparation had paid off. Without further ado, we present to you the proud members of the Spencer Churchill Shrekstravaganza:

Geoff and Lucy as Shrek and Fiona – Geoff actually spent weeks gathering all of the individual pieces for this outfit himself… even borrowing his partner’s cardigan for the big day!

And finally, the whole FarSquad together!

Though we still had work to do, everyone stayed in character throughout the day, injecting just enough Shrek-style humour into the workflow to keep the mood light while still handling client matters. (Yes, even people in Far Far Away need expert legal help sometimes!)

The party

Once we wrapped up a surprisingly productive day in full Shrek regalia, it was time to swap our laptops for laughs and head down to the office’s social area for the party. Costumes intact, we filed downstairs to find an impressive spread of drinks, snacks, and games waiting for us. This was the moment we’d all been looking forward to – an evening to properly celebrate Halloween together.

Now, our building isn’t just ours; we share it with Own Your Space, our sister company and the marketing minds behind many of our client projects. They joined in for the party, though they’d missed our Shrek memo. Instead, they arrived in classic Halloween get-ups – think a vampire, the Joker, and even a tequila, salt, and lime triple costume. The contrast was priceless: swamp characters mingling with a vampire and a rogue clown felt like a Halloween fever dream.

And then we all lived happily ever after…

Halloween at Spencer Churchill was more than just a chance to dress up – it was a reminder of how valuable it is to unwind together as a team. Taking a break from the daily routine, having a laugh, and connecting beyond the work itself helps keep our team motivated and grounded.

Events like this make it clear that we’re not just here to work hard, but to support each other along the way. A little time to recharge goes a long way, and after a night like this, we’re ready to jump back in with fresh energy for our clients. We’ll leave you with this little video we put together… Here’s to more good times and good work ahead!
