Sorting your will is important. Not just because of the tax benefits, the protection it gives your loved ones, or the peace of mind – but because it means you can make sure all your last wishes are respected.
And that includes making sure only the people you like get your inheritance, which is easier said than done given around 10,000 people dispute wills every year in England and Wales.
When you think of writing a will, your mind probably jumps to death, or worse – legal documents. But we reckon people have been thinking about wills all wrong…
Whatever your final wish is – sending your mates on a trip to vegas, giving it all to a cat sanctuary – there’s only one way to make sure it happens, and that’s sitting down with a solicitor and getting it down on paper.
We totally get it – no one likes thinking about the end, but this hesitation means that 56% of adults in the UK have no will whatsoever.
So what if we told you you could not only sort your will out today, but feel great in the process. Not just “ticking-it-off-the-to-do-list” great, but “being-part-of-a-good-cause” great, too.
Well, this year Spencer Churchill Law is joining forces with Will Aid, and we’re here to help you do just that.
So, What’s Will Aid?
Glad you asked! Will Aid is a UK-based charity that makes the months of April and November exciting for more than just spring cleaning and Guy Fawkes – who definitely should have ‘remember, remembered’ to write a will, by the way.
Each year, participating law firms (yep, that includes us!) offer their will-writing services in exchange for a donation to charity instead of the usual fee. Honestly, it’s the easiest win-win you’ll see today. You get your affairs in order (because hey, no judgement, but we all know you’ve been putting that off), and your donation goes to some of the most impactful charities in the UK.
We’re talking about big hitters like Age UK, Save the Children, and British Red Cross – the kind of organisations that make a real, tangible difference in people’s lives.
Why Is Spencer Churchill Law Involved?
Here’s the deal: we’ve built our reputation on helping people secure their futures through will writing and probate work. But as much as we love drafting legally sound wills (trust us, it’s our jam), we also believe in giving back to our community. That’s why this partnership is so close to our hearts.
As Lucy Brooks, our Head of Wills put it: “By working with Will Aid, we’re able to help individuals safeguard their future, while supporting charities that do incredible work both locally and nationally.”
What’s In It for You?
Besides the wonderful feeling of helping others, you get the peace of mind that comes with knowing your legal affairs are sorted. Here’s your chance to take control of your future and do something incredible for those who need it most.
You’ll be part of something bigger, making sure your wishes are legally documented while your donation goes on to help people across the UK. And you won’t need to second-guess the quality of your will – it’ll be written by one of our will specialists. Just without the usual fees attached.
How to Get Involved
It’s super easy. Between now and the end of November, you can book an appointment with one of our lovely will-writing experts. Instead of paying our usual fees, we’ll ask that you make a donation to Will Aid, which will go directly to the charities they support.
Whether you’re looking to sort out a new will or update an existing one, this is the perfect time to get it done. Simply drop us a line at info@spencerchurchill.co.uk or call 01204 929929, and we’ll take care of the rest. It’s the simplest way to do some good while keeping your legal affairs in tip-top shape.
So what are you waiting for? Join us, help some amazing charities, and finally tick that “write a will” box off your list – with style, of course.
